On behalf of Eta Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta, welcome!
Gamma Phi Beta was founded in 1874 at Syracuse University and has now grown to 140 chapters and over 200,000 members in both the US and Canada. Every single member of Gamma Phi Beta is united by our four core values: love, labor, learning, and loyalty — along with our mission: to inspire the highest type of womanhood.
Eta Chapter was installed at UC Berkeley in 1894, and we have been loving every blue and gold-filled moment since! We are delighted and proud to be celebrating 125 years of sisterhood at this incredible university. Our vast alumni network allows us to stay connected to our history and appreciate Eta’s deep roots here in Berkeley.
Just like the Etas of the past, we continue to pride ourselves on our strong and diverse sisterhood. With so many unique and remarkable women at Cal, Eta has had the opportunity to welcome some of the finest women from all over the UC Berkeley campus. We range from Engineering majors to Humanities majors, from volleyball stars to pianists, from City Hall interns to everyday philanthropists. Our chapter does not have any single type of member; instead, we are connected by our love and acceptance of one another for who we are as unique individuals.
We stand out because we are a true representation of what the women at UC Berkeley are truly like. Gamma Phi Beta at Cal can not only provide you with an amazing sorority experience filled with lifelong friends and precious memories but with a true Berkeley experience as well because this is exactly what our chapter is—we are Gamma Phi Beta, we are Cal!
